From the Prez - June 2009

Our O.C.T. 2009 is now history. We had 168 riders this year, and we enjoyed some really nice weather for cycling. (A light wind picked up toward the end). I received numerous compliments on the ride, the routes this year, and the great weather (which I can't really take credit for here; nor can you Harold).
I want to thank all of those who helped with our O.C.T. Your time and efforts are what really made our ride a big success. And several riders commented on how friendly everyone seemed to be. (Everyone can share pride for this).
Our weekly rides have started now. We meet every Tuesday at 5:45 PM. (See MCBC calendar on the sidebar for meeting place each week). Now here is your chance to get started on your cycling for the summer months. (Our starting points change a bit so we can plan several different routes and areas to ride). So, join us!..riding with some friends can help you get started a bit easier (and it's a lot more fun).
Our next meeting is June 15, 2009 at 6:30 PM. This is a Ride Meeting, so bring your bike to the LaPorte Church of the Brethren parking lot. Following our ride, we will enjoy some refreshments. Here is your chance to enjoy an 8 to 10 mile ride with your fellow club members.
I know a lot of you have sent in your 2009 membership dues already. We thank you! But if you still have not sent in your dues, please do so as soon as possible.
Hope to see a number of you at our Tuesday evening rides, and a lot of you on Monday, June 15th.
Until then, let's get out and enjoy some of our beautiful scenery on those two wheels.

2009 Orchard Country Bicycle Tour Recap

This year our tour saw 168 riders. We had a great day for riding, and from what we saw at the 55 mile SAG everyone was enjoying the routes. I have posted a link to the pictures that we have right now here. If you have any pictures of the event that you would like to share send me an e-mail at csd72@hotmail.com, and we can get those on the site. Also if you have any interesting stories or thoughts on the ride feel free to make a comment. If they are too long to leave as a comment send them to me in e-mail form, and I will see they are put on the site. Thanks to everyone who participated, and we hope to see you next year.

First Club Ride

Tonight we are having our first weekly club ride. The ride will start at 5:45 PM at the LaPorte Fairgrounds. We will be riding part of the city loop from the OCT.

26th Annual O.C.T. Coming Sooner Than You Think!

This Year's O.C.T. will be on Sunday May 17th, 2009. Save the date! More information on the ride can be found here. Information regarding registration can be found here. Route information will be posted when we have it. With the harsh winter we want to be sure that we are riding on the best roads possible come May.

Bike To Work Day

Remember tomorrow May 15th is National Bike to Work Day. This entire week has been bike to work week. If you had an interesting ride to work, or just want to share your experience send me an e-mail at csd72@hotmail.com and we will put all of the stories together. If you cannot ride to work, at least get out there and get some miles in tomorrow.
